US citizens in Iran urged to leave the country via Armenia and Turkey
YEREVAN, January 13. /ARKA/. The US government has urged its citizens in Iran to explore the option of leaving the country by land through Armenia or Turkey due to the worsening security conditions.
"Protests across Iran are escalating and could turn violent, resulting in arrests and injuries. There are ongoing road closures, disruptions in public transport, and internet outages. The Iranian authorities have limited access to mobile, landline, and national internet services. Airlines are continuing to restrict or cancel flights to and from Iran, with several companies halting operations until Friday, January 16," the statement from the US embassies in Iran indicated.
The statement also noted that as of January 12, the land border between Armenia and Iran at Agarak/Norduz is still open. "U.S. citizens entering Armenia from Iran must possess a valid U.S. passport, and they are permitted to remain in the country without a visa for up to 180 days," the text elaborated.-0-
