U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller reiterated his concern over Azerbaijani forces' shelling of a steel plant under construction in Armenian Yeraskh and the injury of two employees of the U.S.-affiliated company.

YEREVAN, June 16. /ARKA/. U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller reiterated his concern over Azerbaijani forces' shelling of a steel plant under construction in Armenian Yeraskh and the injury of two employees of the U.S.-affiliated company.

‘We remain concerned about the situation. And we continue to urge the two parties to work together to bridge the remaining differences. Speaking broadly, I will say – as you know, as we spoke to yesterday, we do believe that an agreement is still within reach and we look forward to convening the two parties to move forward,’ Miller told a press briefing.

On June 14, Miller expressed in a tweet ‘deep concern that two civilian employees of a U.S.-affiliated company in Armenia were wounded as a result of Azerbaijani shelling.’ 

‘We are deeply concerned that two civilian employees of a U.S.-affiliated company in Armenia sustained injuries from gunfire from the direction of Azerbaijan,’ Miller said.

‘We reiterate our call for restraint along the borders as the parties work toward a durable and balanced peace.’ he said.

On June 13 and 14, the Armenian-U.S. steel plant being built in the village of Yeraskh (the cost of the project is $70 million) came under Azerbaijani armed forces; fire.

According to the Armenian Defense Ministry, two foreigners were wounded as a result of the June 14 shelling. They are citizens of India - Mihamad Asif and Mirhasan Sahajan, who were working at the construction site. They were rushed to a local hospital for surgeries. Their condition according to the hospital is moderate. -0-
