Two former officers at Electric Networks of Armenia detained on gross embezzlement suspicion

Arsen Gabrielyan, former deputy sales director of Electric Networks of Armenia, and Rudik Pivazyan, former chief of one of the company’s departments, are detained on suspicion of gross embezzlement, the press office of the Armenian Investigation Committee reported on Tuesday.

YEREVAN, March 2. /ARKA/. Arsen Gabrielyan, former deputy sales director of Electric Networks of Armenia, and Rudik Pivazyan, former chief of one of the company’s departments, are detained on suspicion of gross embezzlement, the press office of the Armenian Investigation Committee reported on Tuesday. 

Investigators have found out that the volume of the electric power Sirarpi small hydro power plant provided to the Electric Networks was considerably overstated at a period between August 1, 2012 and August 1, 2015. 

The overstated volume (3 810 188 kilowatt-hour) amounted to AMD 95,694,000. The Electric Networks CJSC has paid the mentioned amount to Sirarpi Private Company LLC, the owner of Sirarpi small hydro power plant.  

It has also become known that in fact Sirarpi Private Company LLC belonged to Arsen Gabrielyan, deputy sales director, who was dismissed in 2015. 

Rudik Pivazyan, maintained accounting of the electric power bought from the hydro power plant. 

In November 2015, the Public Services Regulatory Commission fined the Electric Networks CJSC and the Financial Settlement Center CJSC AMD 5 million. ($1 – 491.60). --0----
