Trump announces signing of peace deal by Pashinyan and Aliyev at White House
YEREVAN, August 8. /ARKA/. On Friday, US President Donald Trump will host Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for a “historic peace summit.”
In a Truth Social post, Trump announced that the United States will sign bilateral agreements with both countries to pursue economic opportunities. Trump said his administration has long engaged with both Yerevan and Baku.
"I look forward to hosting President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia at the White House tomorrow for a historic peace summit," Trump said. "These two countries have been at war for many years, resulting in the deaths of thousands. Many leaders have tried to end the war but failed until now—thanks to Trump. My administration has long engaged with both sides. Tomorrow, President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan will join me at the White House for a formal peace signing ceremony. The United States will also sign bilateral agreements with both countries to promote economic cooperation and unlock the South Caucasus region's full potential. I am very proud of these courageous leaders for doing what is right for their great nations, Armenia and Azerbaijan. This will be a historic day for Armenia, Azerbaijan, the United States, and the whole world. See you there! '-0-
