U.S. State Department reminds that demands regarding Karabakh unchanged
YEREVAN, September 28. /ARKA/. "First, we want the ceasefire (in Nagorno-Karabakh) to hold; second, we want humanitarian needs ( of its population) to be met - that means keeping the Lachin corridor open, allowing humanitarian supplies to flow in, and establishing an international observation mission to meet humanitarian needs," US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told a press briefing September 27.
Miller noted that USAID Administrator Samantha Power and Acting Assistant Secretary of State Yuri Kim, were in Azerbaijan (after visiting Armenia), where they stressed several points that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had mentioned in his conversation with Azerbaijani President Aliyev earlier.
He added that Azerbaijan had previously agreed to host an international mission, and the U.S. will work with allies and partners in the coming days to pinpoint its exact format.
"We can do everything we can to push them but ultimately they have to agree to talk and they have to agree to ultimately come to some resolution. That’s what we’re going to do, is continue to play our part to facilitate that,’ Miller said.-0-.
