YEREVAN, October 2. /ARKA/. Iran supports the development of transportation routes and networks in a way that meets the interests of all countries in the region, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said, IRNA reported.

Kanani also said that Iran has repeatedly emphasized the need to resolve conflicts between Armenia and Azerbaijan through political means.

"We believe that it is possible to resolve the problems in the Caucasus through political negotiations, utilizing regional opportunities without the intervention of foreigners," he said.

Kanani also said the Iranian government plans to send humanitarian aid to Armenians forced to leave Karabakh and move to Armenia.

"However, we emphasize once again that we are against changing international borders," he said at a press briefing on Monday, commenting on the Turkish President's recent statements on the Zangezur corridor.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reported by local media as saying that, “Hopefully, we will realise the Zangezur corridor as soon as possible and make our road and rail communication with Azerbaijan uninterrupted through Nakhchivan.”

Nakhichevan is an Azerbaijani exclave separated from mainland Azerbaijan by Armenia's southern region of Syunik.

Azerbaijan and Turkey are seeking to create the so-called "Zangezur corridor" consisting of railway and land road, which would connect Nakhichevan with the main part of Azerbaijan, crossing the territory of Armenia in the region of Syunik (bordering Iran).

Armenian authorities have repeatedly stated that the country has never agreed and will never agree to any sort of extraterritorial or corridor logic.

Armenia is ready for, and interested in the reopening of regional transport links, however any aspiration or statement that would question Armenia’s sovereignty and jurisdiction (over the roads passing through Armenia) is a red line for the Armenian government, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said earlier this month.-0-
