YEREVAN, August 28. /ARKA/. The spiritual leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan are expected to have a meeting on September 8 in the Russian capital Moscow.

Russian RIA Novosti news agency quoted the press secretary of the Holy See of Etchmiadzin in Armenia, Vahram Melikyan as saying that preparations are being made for the meeting between Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II and the head of the Muslims of the Caucasus Allahshukur Pashazade.

According to him, the spiritual leaders will discuss the Karabakh problem and regional processes. The Office of Muslims of the Caucasus confirmed on Monday preparations for the meeting of spiritual leaders on Karabakh.

The press secretary of the Office of Muslims of the Caucasus Ragima Dadasheva said the meetings of the spiritual leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia being held since 1998 are aimed at preventing the Karabakh conflict from escalating into a religious confrontation. -0-
