Sharmazanov names five issues where his party will not make concessions
YEREVAN, May 22. /ARKA/. Eduard Sharmazanov, the deputy speaker of the parliament from the Republican Party of Armenia, said to the parliament today there are five issues regarding which  his party will not make concessions to the government.

The first issue is about democracy, freedom of political thought and dissent. ‘Obviously, despite existing shortcomings, these directions developed during our government, and we would like the new government to adopt our principles of pluralism of opinions and tolerance because otherwise there would be a dictatorship,’ he said.

The second issue is the question of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), which can never be part of Azerbaijan and the rights of its people to self-determination is not a matter of discussion.

‘This is not a territorial conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as some want to present it, but the issue of human rights protection and the struggle for independence, " said Sharmazanov. According to Sharmazanov,  Armenia is not a party to the conflict, but is a mediator in the negotiations and a guarantor of the security of the people of Artsakh. He said  the issues of national security and army construction are a priority too.

The  fourth issue  is the diversification of the economy and the preservation of the pace of its development. He recalled  that the new government inherited the country with 7.5% economic growth. ‘We expect this growth rate to maintain,"  said Sharmazanov.

And the fifth question where the Republican Party will not yield to the new government is the preservation of Armenia's membership in the CSTO and the Eurasian Economic Union. -0-
