The Russian government has approved an agreement signed with Armenia on opening a consulate general in Armenia's Kapan,  Russian Tass news agency reported.

YEREVAN, November 3. /ARKA/. The Russian government has approved an agreement signed with Armenia on opening a consulate general in Armenia's Kapan, Russian Tass news agency reported.

"To accept the proposal of the Russian Foreign Ministry to conclude by exchange of notes an agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Republic of Armenia on the establishment of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in the city of Kapan," the Russian government decision says.

The consulate general of the Russian Federation in Kapan will be the second in Armenia. The first one is located in Gyumri, which hosts a Russian military base.

Iran also has a consulate general in Kapan and France indicated it would like to have a consulate in Kapan, which is the administrative center of Armenia’s southern province of Syunik, bordering Iran and Azerbaijan.-0-
