YEREVAN, January 19. /ARKA/. Ruben Rubinyan, the Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia and the Special Representative for the Armenian-Turkish normalization, has chosen not to speculate on when the Armenian-Turkish border might reopen.

"The Turkish side is currently engaged in restoration efforts at the Alijan checkpoint (on the border with Armenia). On our end, the Margara checkpoint is functioning," he stated during a press briefing on Monday.

When asked about future developments, Rubinyan opted not to provide comments. "The time will come—you will be duly informed."

He added, "My experience in the Armenian-Turkish peace process indicates that it is wiser to wait for events to unfold before making any declarations," emphasizing his desire not to hinder the ongoing process.

In discussing the agreements between Armenia and Turkey, he pointed out that there has been an agreement since 2022 to allow third-country citizens and holders of diplomatic passports to cross the border.

He reaffirmed that Yerevan's stance has consistently been to advocate for completely open borders and the establishment of diplomatic relations with neighboring countries—even as soon as tomorrow. "In this regard, our position remains unchanged," he concluded.-0-
