YEREVAN, May 10. /ARKA/. The opposition Pativ Unem (I Have Honor) faction in the Armenian parliament is ready to join the process of declaring a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the faction's secretary Tigran Abrahamyan said.
Addressing thousands of opposition supporters at a May 9 rally Primate of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, who heads the movement demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan,
said their goal is to achieve the resignation through the parliament by declaring a vote of no confidence.
The signatures of one-third of the parliamentarians (36 MPs) are needed to launch this process, while both opposition parliamentary factions control 35 seats. And a vote of no confidence requires the votes of 54 MPs.
Speaking about the process itself, Abrahamyan said there are certain procedural issues. "Some of them are technical, and some of them are not conditioned by us. We have expressed our readiness," he said.
Asked whether they are working to win over MPs from the ruling Civil Contract faction, Abrahamyan said it will also be necessary to ensure the presence of some Civil Contract deputies to bring the process to the end. -0-
