Pashinyan says the Diaspora cannot participate in Armenia's governance

YEREVAN, 19 June. /ARKA/. Throughout the entire period of the Third Republic's existence (since 1991, when Armenia regained its independence from the Soviet Union), the Armenian Diaspora has been perceived as some kind of auxiliary institution contributing to the organisation of the Republic of Armenia's governance, but this is not the case, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Wednesday.

"We (Pashinyan's administration) say that the diaspora cannot be such an institution. The fact is that the Republic of Armenia, like any other state, is an instrument with its own quite clear mechanisms. And it is clearly spelled out who and how manages these mechanisms," Pashinyan said at the meeting with the participants of the iGorts programme.

The Prime Minister also compared the Diaspora to a superfluous detail in the mechanism, considering its forced inclusion in the country's governance unnecessary and  even harmful. --0-
