Pashinyan: TRIPP project and restoration of Gyumri-Akhurik-Akyaka and Yeraskh railway junctions will transform Armenia's economy
YEREVAN, May 24. /ARKA/. Armenian authorities intend to soon begin restoring the Gyumri-Akhurik-Akyaka railway section toward the Turkish province of Kars, as well as repairing the Yeraskh railway junction. This was announced by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

"We also intend to begin restoring the Gyumri-Akhurik-Akyaka railway section soon. Work has already begun on the Turkish side, and the railway will be reopened," he said.

The Prime Minister noted that the Armenian government will also undertake repairs to the Yeraskh railway junction, despite the existence of a concession agreement.

"We intend to invest, repair the railway, restore it, and the railway will reopen," Pashinyan stated. According to him, "major events" related to the implementation of the TRIPP project await Armenia in the coming years. Pashinyan noted that preparations are currently underway to sign the agreement with the United States within the framework already announced.

"When the TRIPP project is implemented, we will have a railway through Meghri, which will connect to Nakhichevan, from Nakhichevan to Yeraskh, from Yeraskh to Gyumri, from Gyumri to Akhurik, and from Akhurik to Turkey," the prime minister said.

He emphasized that the project will also open the Armenia-Iran railway.

"That is, we will have rail service from the Persian Gulf all the way to the Black Sea—to the ports of Batumi, Poti, and Anaklia. This will significantly change the economic situation in Armenia," Pashinyan stated.

According to the prime minister, in recent years Armenia has "transformed from the outskirts of the world into the center of the world" politically and economically.
