Pashinyan: Armenia welcomes the key decision by the US and Iran to cease hostilities

YEREVAN, April 8. /ARКА/. Armenia welcomes the key decision between the US and Iran to cease all military actions, stated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

"We also highly appreciate the mediation efforts, including those of Pakistan, and firmly believe that diplomacy must prevail in resolving all outstanding issues and maintaining peace in the Middle East," Pashinyan wrote on his social media page.

On April 7, US President Donald Trump announced that the US would suspend "bombing and attacks on Iran" for two weeks after consultations with Pakistan, on the condition that unimpeded passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz be ensured for the same period.

Israel will also join the two-week suspension of strikes on Iran, CNN reported, citing a White House spokesperson.

Tehran, in turn, confirmed its readiness for a truce and declared that it had won a "great victory" over the United States by forcing Washington to accept its 10-point plan for a full end to the war instead of a short-term ceasefire.-0-
