Pashinyan: "Armenia has always recognized Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan, but it was concealed"
YEREVAN, March 19. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Nagorno-Karabakh has always been part of Azerbaijan; Armenia has always recognized this, but concealed it.

At a briefing on Thursday, Pashinyan said that two days ago, the head of the Urban Development Committee presented him with documents from the Armenian government related to a previous resettlement process several years ago.

"In these documents, the border east of Armenia was designated as Azerbaijani territory, as we stated in the initialed peace treaty. This is an official document of the Armenian government," the prime minister said.

He believes that this reality, including the 1996 Lisbon Summit, has long been hidden from the populations of Armenia and Karabakh. According to him, these documents have already been published.

Pashinyan also stated that the aim of this policy was to prevent Armenia's independence. He blamed former presidents Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Robert Kocharyan, and Serzh Sargsyan for this, and also alleged the involvement of Russian-Belarusian oligarchs.
