YEREVAN, March 4. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan thanked his Georgian counterpart, Irakli Kobakhidze, for his continued support of the peace process between Yerevan and Baku.
"We also see and feel Georgia's support in developing bilateral trade and economic ties between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Moreover, since independence, not a single train has passed through Azerbaijan, but now trains to Armenia travel via Azerbaijan and Georgia. And we hope that in the near future, exports from Armenia will also be carried out by rail. Of course, your support in this matter is invaluable," Pashinyan said during the 15th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Armenia and Georgia.
According to the Prime Minister, the parties should pay more attention to the enormous opportunities opening up for the region.
"Of course, the international situation is currently very complex, and to a large extent, the regional situation is also very complex. But on the other hand, we hope and are convinced that, in any case, in a strategic sense, regional perception is very important, and we must build our strategies. Of course, each of us has our own agenda, but, obviously, a regional perception of opportunities, challenges, and risks is very important," he said. Pashinyan.
According to him, in 2021, a concept previously absent from the political agenda was introduced into the Armenian government's Program.
"We call this regionalization. In this context, of course, our relations with Georgia are of particular importance. I would also like to emphasize that in recent years, with Georgia's support, we have also been striving to deepen trilateral regional cooperation between Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. I think this area also has very promising prospects. I hope that in the near future we will have the opportunity to achieve certain successes in this area as well," the Armenian Prime Minister said.
During the commission meeting, issues of cooperation and programs in the economy, energy, transport, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, and other areas were discussed.
Steps aimed at developing regional cooperation were discussed. Pashinyan presented his Georgian colleagues with detailed information on the work being carried out within the framework of the TRIPP project.
