Papikyan and Shoigu discuss Karabakh and Armenian-Russian military cooperation
YEREVAN, August 16. /ARKA/. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu held talks with his Armenian counterpart Suren Papikyan on Tuesday in Moscow within the framework of the 10th Moscow Conference on International Security.
The ministers discussed the activities of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, RIA Novosti news agency reported.
"We have a lot to discuss; there are traditional issues concerning our military-technical cooperation. And, of course, there are issues related to the activities of our peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh. We still believe, as you do, that the main stabilizing factor is the observance of the ceasefire regime along the entire line of contact," the Russian defense minister was quoted as saying.
Shoigu also thanked his Armenian counterpart for participating in the opening of the International Army Games and the Army-2022 International Military-Technical Forum, as well as the Moscow Conference on International Security.
In turn, Papikyan noted that today's meeting is already the second since the beginning of the year, which shows the high level of bilateral Armenian-Russian allied cooperation.
"This meeting is very important for us. We highly appreciate the current level of Armenian-Russian interaction, as well as the role of the Russian presence in the South Caucasus," the Armenian Defense Minister said.
Papikyan and Shoigu met at the Patriot Park, where the 10th Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS-2022) is taking place. More than 700 delegates from more than 70 countries from all regions of the world are participating in the forum.
