YEREVAN, June 19. /ARKA/. The head of the Armenian government, Nikol Pashinyan, said that in June 2018 (when he came to power), he was the Prime Minister “conditionally”, and most of all, he was an “outpost” Prime Minister.

Speaking in parliament on Thursday, he explained that the concept of “outpost” in Armenian realities is usually associated with one specific country. “However, I soon recorded for myself - precisely in the status of Prime Minister - that associating the phenomenon of outposting with only one country is a huge injustice. In fact, many countries were involved in this process of outposting: such countries were in the north, and in the south, and in the east, and in the west,” Pashinyan said.

According to him, it is important to record that the critical mass of outposting "was not outside of us, but within ourselves." "We ourselves became its main driving force. We ourselves did not realize that we are the government of Armenia, the parliament, the people. We did not realize that we are a state. We did not try to clarify for ourselves what a state is, what parameters define it, what behavior presupposes the status of a state, and what behavior goes beyond it," Pashinyan emphasized.

He admitted that in 2018-2019, there was a logic that the Republic of Armenia is not an end, but a means to achieve some higher, external goal. "After November 2020, I was perhaps in the most extreme status of an "outpost" prime minister... And now Armenia is an independent and sovereign state more than ever," Pashinyan believes.

He said that in June 2025, all this changed for him and now he is a full-fledged prime minister, thanks to Armenia and the Armenian people. "Armenia has never been so prepared for international situations and regional problems than it is now," Pashinyan emphasized.
