YEREVAN, June 21. /ARKA/. The process of reforming Armenia’s judicial system is proceeding quite successfully as evidenced, among other things, by Armenia's international partners, Justice Minister Grigor Minasyan said.

"We work with various international organizations on a daily basis. A new strategy for judicial and legal reforms has been worked out. It specifies all the directions we have to work on," Minasyan said in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia.

According to him, one of the most significant achievements of the Ministry of Justice in 2022 was amending the legislation.

"We are working to make justice more accessible. We have also raised salaries at almost all key levels, including the Constitutional Court, the Court of Appeals, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Investigative Committee," Minasyan said.

In his opinion, this helps, among other things, to increase opportunities for attracting new professional staff.

"We have also improved conditions of detention in penitentiary institutions," the minister said.

A package of major legislative changes designed by Armenian Justice Ministry to reduce the workload of court judges was also approved by the government last week.

The proposed changes are supposed to reduce the workload of the courts by 80%, because banks, credit institutions and utility companies will not be allowed to take confiscation cases to courts. Instead, they will have to settle them with notaries, who, in turn, will further transfer cases to the Enforcement Service. -0-
