YEREVAN, February 25. /ARKA/. Azerbaijani gasoline, priced at 430 drams per liter, is selling out very quickly in Armenia, stated Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan.

"It's sold out just as quickly as it's imported. People buy it up very quickly. When it runs out, the next batch becomes more expensive," Papoyan noted at a briefing on Wednesday.

According to him, the conclusion is that Azerbaijani gasoline should be delivered as frequently as possible to keep the price low for Armenian citizens.

On the supply of goods to Armenia via Azerbaijan

Railway transportation of goods to Armenia via Azerbaijan became possible thanks to agreements reached between the two countries in Washington on August 8, as well as memoranda of understanding signed between the governments of the United States and Armenia.

This route is being used for the first time since the early 1990s, following the announcement on October 21, 2025, by the President of Azerbaijan that all restrictions on cargo transit to Armenia through its territory would be lifted.

The first two consignments of goods to reach Armenia by rail through Georgia and Azerbaijan were a train carrying Russian grain (15 cars, arrived on November 5) and a train carrying Kazakh wheat (approximately 1,000 tons, arrived on November 7).

Furthermore, on December 19, a train carrying 1,218 tons of gasoline from Azerbaijan arrived in Armenia, in accordance with the agreements reached between the Armenian and Azerbaijani deputy prime ministers at a meeting on November 28, 2026, in Gabala.
