Former justice minister and his deputy elected new members of Armenia's Supreme Judicial Council

Armenia's ex-Justice Minister Karen Andreasyan and Deputy Justice Minister Yeranuhi Tumanyants were elected today by the parliament as new members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).

YEREVAN, Oct. 6. /ARKA/. Armenia's ex-Justice Minister Karen Andreasyan and Deputy Justice Minister Yeranuhi Tumanyants were elected today by the parliament as new members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).

The SJC nominates Armenian judges, monitors their work and can take disciplinary action or dismiss them altogether.

Andreasyan and Tumanyants were nominated by the ruling Civil Contract party of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Andreasyan resigned as Justice Minister on Wednesday. There is no yet an official decision on this issue by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Yeranuhi Tumanyants was dismissed from the position of Deputy Minister of Justice on Wednesday.

Andreasyan was appointed as Minister of Justice on August 3, 2021. Tumanyants became Deputy Minister of Justice on September 30, 2021. -0-
