Expert criticizes political parties’ election programs
YEREVAN, March 24. /ARKA/. The head of a Yerevan-based think tank has lambasted today political parties and alliances for including in their election programs ‘unrealistic or questionable promises.’

Speaking at a news conference, Tatul Manaseryan, the head of Alternative think tank, said some of the parties and blocs argue that leaving one economic union would become a salvation for the Armenian economy;  others argue  that membership in another economic union would  be more beneficial.

Manaseryan said leaders of parties and alliances should study the experience of the EU member states and consider the future in the context of the existing potential and its rational use, to prevent migration and achieve economic and social development.

In his words, the programs have two radical approaches – either promises or no promises at all, which is also unjustified.

Parliamentary elections will be held in Armenia on April 2. They will be the first nationwide elections after the adoption of constitutional reforms in 2015, providing for the transition to a parliamentary form of government after the expiration of the term of office of the incumbent president in 2018. Nine political parties and blocs will be contesting the polls.--0--
