YEREVAN, April 5. /ARKA/. The European Union appreciates Armenia's efforts against circumvention of EU sanctions slapped on Russia, European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said at a press conference following a trilateral meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Brussels today.

"I welcome Armenia's efforts in the fight against circumventing our sanctions against Russia," she said, emphasizing that Brussels "particularly appreciates Yerevan's efforts to keep sub-sanctioned military equipment and technology out of Moscow."

Since March 30, virtually all Armenia-based banks, except for a subsidiary of Russian VTB, ceased to process payments by Russian Mir cards.

The Armenian national payment system Armenian Card (ArCa) had notified the Russian National Payment Card System (operator of Mir cards) in advance about this decision of the commercial banks.-0-
