Deputy Chairman of Republican Party of Armenia urges supporters of Samvel Karapetyan's party to act without haste, but also not to delay
YEREVAN, August 5. /ARKA/. Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia, former Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan urged supporters of the new political force led by “Tashir Group” President Samvel Karapetyan not to rush, but also not to delay their steps in the domestic political field.
"There is fertile ground for the creation of new political forces in Armenia, as shown by the findings of a set of sociological research," Ashotyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.
According to him, it is also obvious that the opposition lacks flexibility, so it should be interested in the emergence of any new, real opposition force.
On July 14, 2025, Karapetyan, who is under arrest on charges of calling for the seizure of power, announced through his representatives the beginning of the formation of a "fundamentally new political force" in Armenia.
On June 18, Samvel Karapetyan was arrested in Armenia on charges of publicly calling for the seizure of power. This occurred after he stated at a meeting with Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II that he had always supported the Armenian Church and the Armenian people. He added that if politicians were unsuccessful, then "we are ready to participate in all this in our own way."
Then, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the ENA nationalization plan, claiming it would be carried out in accordance with Armenian law. The corresponding amendments to the laws "On Energy" and "On the Public Services Regulation Commission" were adopted on July 3 and signed by the president on July 8.-0-
