Catholicos of All Armenians invites Pope Leo XIV to visit Armenia
YEREVAN, September 16. /ARКА/. The Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II, currently in the Vatican, extended an invitation to Pope Leo XIV to visit Armenia, as reported by the press office of the Mother See of Etchmiadzin.
Karekin II emphasized that the fraternal bonds between the two churches have been strengthened through gracious meetings and shared expressions of faith, expressing his belief that their relationship will continue to flourish in the same fraternal spirit.
During their discussion, the patriarchs addressed the concerning events occurring globally, as well as the challenges and trials confronting Armenia and its people.
The Catholicos informed the Pontiff about the plight of the Armenians in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), who have been forcibly displaced from their ancestral homeland, the issues surrounding the preservation of Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage in Artsakh, which faces the threat of destruction by Azerbaijan, and the urgent need for the release of prisoners of war and detainees currently held in Baku.-0-
