Azerbaijani special services attempted to recruit Artsakh resident

YEREVAN, January 18. /ARKA/. Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) National Security Service said today Azerbaijani special services incited a local resident to espionage.

“In recent days Azerbaijani special services have intensified attempts to contact people living in Artsakh in social networks, sow panic among them or receive information from them,” the National Security Service said in a statement.

It said a Telegram user registered under a pseudonym, posing as an ethnic Armenian female, first entered into a conversation with a man living in Artsakh, seeking to establish a close relationship, sent him ostensibly hers nude photos and demanded the same from that person.

Afterwards, under the threat of publication, the Azerbaijani demanded information, photos of various locations, as well as promised to pay for the services by transferring money to a pre-sent bank account," the Artsakh National Security Service said.

It said it was checking the circumstances of this case, the content and the amount of information provided to Azerbaijani special services by the resident, as well as motives and goals.

"We again urge our citizens to refrain from communicating with unknown users in social networks and accepting dubious offers, from providing information that threatens the security of the Republic of Artsakh. In such cases or offers the residents should immediately report to the National Security Service of the Republic of Artsakh," it said. -0-
