Azerbaijan tries to bring peace process to deadlock with provocations on border - Armenian Foreign Ministry
YEREVAN, December 4. /ARKA/. The Armenian Foreign Ministry issued a statement today in connection with the death of a servicemen of the Armed Forces who was killed by an Azerbaijani sniper.
"On December 4, Armenian Armed Forces serviceman Gerasim Arakelyan was fatally wounded by a shot fired by an Azerbaijani Armed Forces sniper on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border in the direction of Vayots Dzor region of Armenia," the statement reads.
"We strongly condemn these actions of the Azerbaijani side aimed at provoking a new escalation, delaying the peace process and bringing it to a deadlock," the Foreign Ministry stressed.
The Armenian Defense Ministry said earlier today that the incident occurred at 14:35 near an Armenian military outpost located in Bardzruni district of Vayots Dzor province. It said an investigation is underway to clarify all the circumstances of the incident. It also conveyed its condolences to the family members, relatives and fellow servicemen of the killed serviceman.-0-
