Azerbaijan's provocations and non-observance of agreements violate security- Mirzoyan

YEREVAN, January 18. /ARKA/. Azerbaijan's incessant provocations, non-observance of agreements reached and bellicose rhetoric hinder very much the efforts of the Armenian side to establish security and stability in the region, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid on Tuesday.

According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the Armenian side also noted that OSCE has a role to play through its structures in addressing the important task of achieving and maintaining peace.

The Armenian Foreign Minister touched upon the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the closure of the Lachin corridor, stressing that Azerbaijan's goal is to subject the Armenians of Artsakh to ethnic cleansing.

Mirzoyan stressed the need for active action by the international community to unblock the Lachin corridor and restore safe and unimpeded communication between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. Special attention was paid to ensuring humanitarian access of relevant international structures to Nagorno-Karabakh.

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The Minister presented the recent developments in the normalization process of Armenian-Turkish relations. During the meeting the sides also touched upon the cooperation programs with Armenia in the framework of the OSCE. -0-
