YEREVAN, October 3. /ARKA/. The Artsakh Defense Army managed to suppress a large-scale attack by Azerbaijani troops, press secretary of the Armenian Defense Ministry Shushan Stepanyan wrote on her Facebook page.

"In one of the directions, our forces have launched a counteroffensive. In the rest, heavy defensive battles are being waged," Stepanyan wrote.

In the meantime, Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan who went today morning to a frontline position to encourage the soldiers, said he was still there. The  heads of the National Security Services of Armenia and Artsakh Argishti Kyaramyan and Kamo Aghajanyan are also there with him.

'The guys are brilliantly performing the combat mission assigned to them. I am encouraged by the courage and professionalism of our military personnel and the dedication of our volunteers. In a word, both at the front and in the rear, we firmly stand on the positions of the sacred cause of defending the homeland,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

The President called on the sons of the people of Armenia to join the cause of defending the homeland. “The hour has come,” wrote Harutyunyan.

According to official Armenian sources, some 3000 Azerbaijani soldiers have been killed in the fighting against Nagorno-Karabakh since September 27 morning when Azerbaijan launched a large-scale offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh and another 3,400 have been wounded. 

The Armenian forces of Nagorno-Karabakh have destroyed about 250  various armored vehicles, multiple launch rocket systems Smerch, Uragan, and TOS , more than 110 UAVs, 16 helicopters, 11 aircraft. 

According to the defense ministries of Armenia and Artsakh, during the repulse of the aggression of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, backed by Turkish air forces and mercenaries, more than 150 Armenian servicemen have been killed and several hundred people have been wounded.  Azerbaijani rocket attacks against civilian targets in Nagorno-Karabakh have killed 12 civilians and wounded another 64. -0-
