Armenian - Russian relations not free of difficulties, political analyst says
YEREVAN, January 24. /ARKA/. The Armenian-Russian relations are not free of difficulties, which is normal in view of change of power in Armenia, the head of the Caucasus Institute in Yerevan Alexander Iskandaryan told a news conference today.

"Any union or bloc is not only a format for interaction, but also for contradictions arising within it. Turkey and Greece, which have many problems both are in NATO. In Armenia there is a dynamic. In Russia everything remains approximately as it was,” Iskandaryan said explaining the nature of difficulties in Russian-Armenian relations.

According to him, the point is not just about new people in the Armenian government, but about those who came to power in a revolutionary, not evolutionary way.

“It takes time to get used to it, to adapt to it. The talk that Russian President Vladimir Putin had excellent relations with former president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan is the work of the devil. There were difficulties between them, quite a few - their style of work was different, but  those difficulties did not spill out  often," said Iskandaryan.

Iskandaryan also argued that  the attitude of  the new government of Armenia  towards relations with different countries is ‘changing before our eyes.’

“Errors are being made, undoubtedly. Since the people who have come to power are new, the errors are also new,’ he said. -0-
