YEREVAN, April 19. /ARKA/. Armenian parliamentary and extra-parliamentary opposition forces have launched fresh street protests in a bid to make Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan step down, and prevent ‘unacceptable’ concessions to Azerbaijan, Artur Vanetsyan, the head of Pativ Unem parliamentary faction told reporters on Monday.

Vanetsyan and a group of loyalists began a nonstop sit-in in Yerevan’s Liberty Square on Sunday evening.

"We have a clear plan of action… I believe that if the people believe us, and I'm sure they will, and everyone contributes to this struggle, we will achieve our goal very quickly," he said.

According to Vanetsyan, these goals are having strong Armenia, strong Nagorno-Karabakh, a sovereign state with untouchable territorial integrity and prosperous citizens.

"But in order to achieve all this, we must solve one intermediate problem: overthrow these authorities. Once that problem is solved, we will achieve our goals," he argued.

According to Vanetsyan, who is a former chief of the National Security Service, the recent statements by the authorities ‘that the international community is pressing Armenia to lower a bit the bar on the question of Nagorno-Karabakh’s status and recognize Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, because otherwise it will not be able to help the Armenian side,’ show that they are ready to surrender Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan. -0-
