YEREVAN, November 14. /ARKA/. Armenia's Ministry of Health has denied allegations by Mikael Minasyan, the son-of-law of former president Serzh Sargsyan who claimed in a Facebook post that as many as 4,750 Armenian soldiers were killed in the Nagorno-Karabakh war.
The ministry described Minasyan's allegations as 'a blatant lie that goes beyond all the boundaries.'
'The Ministry of Health, as the body that conducts forensic medical examination of all victims, officially declares that there are no 1400 dead and not yet dissected bodies, as claimed by Minasyan,' it said.
According to press secretary of the ministry Alina Nikoghosyan, to date, 2,317 bodies of dead servicemen, including unidentified ones, have been examined by the forensic medical service.
She said the process of exchanging the bodies of dead servicemen has just begun and the conflicting parties cannot dispose of the final figures at the moment.
"Trying to get political dividends by manipulating this delicate topic with the help of false information is beyond all moral norms. On behalf of the entire staff of the Ministry of Health, we express our condolences to all mothers and fathers who have lost their sons. We are sorry to have to make a post on this topic," Nikoghosyan said. -0-
