YEREVAN, March 21, /ARKA/. Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received today Sweden’s Minister for International Development Cooperation Peter Eriksson, who will be visiting Armenia on March 21-22.

Ahead of his visit the Swedish government had announced that it intends to increase its financial support to Armenia, in response to the strong political will to undertake necessary reforms, following the “velvet revolution” of 2018.

During the meeting, Grigoryan said the Armenian government plans to implement reforms in the economy, infrastructure, human capital development, protection of human rights and justice.

The Deputy Prime Minister was quoted by his press office as saying that there are challenges on the path of the reforms, but they can be confronted by institutionalizing the highest values put forward by the government.

Grigoryan said also that Sweden is a friendly country for Armenia, whose success in such areas as democracy, human rights and social protection serve as an example for other nations.

In turn, Peter Eriksson said that Sweden is ready to open a "bilateral window of opportunity" for Armenia. The two men were said to have agreed that there is a great untapped potential for the development of bilateral cooperation.

They also discussed economic reforms, Armenian tax reforms, corruption fighting as well as political and economic empowerment of women. --0—
