Armenia to host ‘Thunder 2021’ special exercise
YEREVAN, September 22. /ARKA/. On September 24-28, Armenia will be hosting a special exercise codenamed "Thunder-2021" that will involve special anti-drug units, the personnel of internal affairs bodies and special services, who are part of the Collective Rapid Reaction Force of the Russia-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), CSTO press secretary Vladimir Zainetdinov said.
He said the exercise is part of the joint training of the command and control bodies of the CSTO collective security system, designed for 2021.
During the first phase, the combined special forces of the CSTO member countries together with the armed forces of Armenia will work out a set of training and applied tasks in mountainous terrain.
At the same time, a command and staff training will be held for the operational staff of the Collective Rapid Reaction Force on planning and conducting special operations.
In the process, special forces from the CSTO member states, together with units of Armenian armed forces and border troops will gain new experience and skills in participating in a special operation in conditions as close to combat ones as possible.
During the second phase of the exercise, competitions in tactical shooting will be held together with practical actions. -0-
