Armenia, Iraq emphasize fight against terrorism
YEREVAN, March 25. /ARKA/. Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan met on Thursday with visiting Iraqi Defense Minister Jumaa Inad Saadoun Khattab, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.
It said welcoming the Iraqi delegation, Ayvazyan expressed satisfaction with the high level of bilateral relations based on the centuries-old Armenian-Iraqi friendship.
The ministers stressed the importance of deepening the dialogue on military security issues between Armenia and Iraq, expressing mutual conviction that close cooperation in this area will have a positive impact on ensuring regional stability and peace.
The ministers touched also upon a wide range of regional security issues. Ayvazyan drew the attention of his interlocutor to the direct participation of Turkey in the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, expressing concern over the deployment of foreign armed terrorists and mercenaries by it in the conflict zone.
In this context, the need for close cooperation between the two countries in the fight against terrorism in possible formats was emphasized. -0-
