YEREVAN, August 1. /ARKA/. 'We continue to talk about a peace agreement (between Armenia and Azerbaijan) and we continue to believe that a peace agreement is within reach,' U.S. Department of State spokesman Mathew Miller told a press briefing on July 31.

'However, we have always said that for it to be within reach both parties have to make difficult compromises, and that’s why the Secretary has been remained engaged in talking to the leaders of both Armenia and Azerbaijan to encourage them to make those difficult compromises so we can – they can reach an agreement,' Miller said.

Miller also recalled that Secretary Antony Blinken spoke with Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev on Saturday, raising his concerns about Lachin corridor situation on the ground.

Miller refused to comment on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh that is deteriorating because of the Azerbaijani blockade of the only road that links Karabakh and Armenia. -0-
