Armen Pambukhchyan appointed new minister of emergency situations
YEREVAN, April 12. /ARKA/. Armenian President Vahagn Khachatryan has appointed today Armen Pambukhchyan as new Minister of Emergency Situations.
Prior to this appointment Pambukhchyan served as first deputy minister. He is a member of the pro-government Civil Contract party.
Pambukhchyan is replacing Andranik Piloyan, who was arrested earlier on charges of corruption. Piloyan along with a group of his former subordinates are accused, in particular, of numerous cases of extorting and receiving large-scale bribes, embezzlement and receipt of illegal rewards.
Piloyan, a retired army general, served as head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations since July 7, 2020. He was awarded the highest title "National Hero" for participating in the second Karabakh war in 2020 autumn.-0-
