Approximately 800 million drams allocated for renovation of Armenian Genocide Memorial

YEREVAN, August 27. /ARКА/. The Armenian government has designated around 800 million drams for a major repair of the Armenian Genocide Memorial, announced Zhanna Andreasyan, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports.

"These funds are substantial for establishing the necessary conditions. We must ensure that these matters are addressed for the next decade," Andreasyan remarked during a press conference on Wednesday.

Previously, certain Telegram channels reported that repairs had unexpectedly commenced at the Armenian Genocide Museum, making access to the Memorial for the Victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 impossible.

However, the Museum clarified that this was a scheduled repair that had been ongoing for two months, and access to the memorial remained available.

The minister indicated that a very poor situation had arisen both in the museum and at the Memorial Complex.

"The entire waterproofing system was inadequately designed. Serious issues emerged during rainfall concerning the preservation of museum exhibits, archives, and the reinforcement and maintenance of the memorial," Andreasyan explained.

She noted that the work outlined in the contract was being executed in phases. The minister expressed optimism that the project would be completed by the established deadline - by the end of 2026.-0-
