YEREVAN, September 9. /ARKA/. Armenia's participation in BRICS does not conflict with its growing ties with Europe, Alen Simonyan, Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly, said on Monday.

Simonyan emphasized that Armenia’s economic interests require it to explore various avenues for diversification amid global sanctions.

"Economically, Armenia has important connections, and we should not isolate ourselves from the region. Countries are seeking ways to diversify economically in the current climate, and Armenia must act in its own interests by engaging in the BRICS summit," Simonyan stated.

He stressed that this participation aligns with Armenia’s path toward European integration, adding, "We must avoid extremes, and our values remain unchanged. This approach will complement Armenia’s economy, rights, and values."

Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is set to attend the BRICS summit in Russia’s Kazan on October 22-24.
