YEREVAN, October 31. /ARКА/. The Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonyan said today that 'we should be prepared to see Azerbaijani delegations to visit Armenia, and Armenian delegations to visit Azerbaijan.'
"Of course, there are issues that require discussion, especially the situation with our prisoners of war, which is a serious problem. Nevertheless, communication will continue, and we strive to develop it. When I say 'we,' I mean that the Azerbaijani side agrees with this point of view. The initial obstacles have been overcome," Simonyan stated. He also commented on the absence of the Azerbaijani delegation from the 12th plenary session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, as well as the Azerbaijani President's decision not to participate in the European Political Community (EPC) summit scheduled for May 2026 in Armenia, citing the lack of a signed peace treaty.
"My colleagues have informed me that the Azerbaijanis have no objections to visiting Armenia. Their non-participation in the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly is related to their relations with this organization. They see no obstacles to cooperation and visits to our country. We expect the participation of the presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan in the EPC it. We will make every effort to ensure their peace of mind here," Simonyan noted.
