New Yerevan mayor to be elected November 15

New mayor of Yerevan will be elected on November 15 by the Council of Elders, the legislative body of the Yerevan municipality, which passed today a relevant decision.
YEREVAN, November 4. / ARKA /. New mayor of Yerevan will be elected on November 15 by the Council of Elders, the legislative body of the Yerevan municipality, which passed today a relevant decision.
The position became vacant after the resignation of ex-mayor Karen Karapetian on October 28. The acting mayor Taron Margaryan, who was nominated by the Republican Party as a candidate for the post, said Karen Karapetian renounced also his mandate of a Council of Elders member.
Taron Margaryan is the son of late Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan who died in 2007. -0-
