Deputy defense minister appointed new Armenian Police Chief

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree on Tuesday to appoint Lieutenant-General Vladimir Gasparyan as new Chief of Police, relieving him of the post of deputy defense minister, the presidential press service said.
YEREVAN, November 1. / ARKA /. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree on Tuesday to appoint Lieutenant-General Vladimir Gasparyan as new Chief of Police, relieving him of the post of deputy defense minister, the presidential press service said.
Earlier, the President dismissed Chief of Police Alik Sargsyan and appointed him as an adviser to the head of state.
Vladimir Gasparyan was born September 9, 1958 in Estonia. In 1989 graduated from the High School of the USSR Interior Ministry. In 1976-1978 he served in the Armed Forces. Gasparyan worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia in 1982 and 1995, was head of the Military Police in 1997-2010.
October 2, 2010 he was appointed as Deputy Minister of Defense. -0-
