Second quake in Turkey’s southeast felt also in Armenia
YEREVAN, February 6. /ARKA/. The second powerful earthquake, which hit the south-east of Turkey in less than 12 hours today at 14.24 local time (10.24 GMT), was felt also in Armenia’s capital Yerevan and the second-largest town of Gyumri, reported the National Seismic Protection Service.
It said the 7.6 magnitude tremor’s epicenter was 60 km northeast of the Turkish town of Kahramanmarash. The origin was located at the depth of 10 km.
According to reports, the combined official death toll from the first quake in Turkey and Syria has already risen to over 1,200. The quake is said to have killed 912 people and wounded 5,383 in Turkey. Syria’s state news agency reported more than 320 dead in the country, with over 1,000 wounded. -0-
