YEREVAN, September 26. /ARKA/. An explosion at an overcrowded fuel depot in Nagorno-Karabakh on Monday may have resulted in mass casualties, reports from Nagorno-Karabakh said.

According to local authorities, as many as 200 people may have suffered, many with serious burns. The injured have been taken to hospitals for medical treatment. The confirmed number of casualties has not yet been disclosed.

According to reports, the explosion occurred during the distribution of fuel to people who were seeking to travel to Armenia.

"As a result of the explosion in the fuel warehouse, the number of injured exceeds 200. The health condition of the majority is severe or extremely severe," Nagorno-Karabakh human rights defender Gegham Stepanyan said on social media.

"The medical capacities of Nagorno-Karabakh are not enough," he added, calling for air ambulances to be allowed to land.

Thousands of people from Nagorno-Karabakh have fled to Armenia in recent days after the September 19 Azerbaijani military attack that left more than 200 people killed and more than 400 wounded. -0-
