YEREVAN, December 9. /ARKA/. Garik Marutyan, a reserve major at the Armenian defense ministry, arrested last week on a charge of treason, the National Security Service of Armenia reported on Wednesday.
Marutyan, 38, is a resident of Armenia’s Armavir province.
According to the report, working for years as intelligence chief in different military units of the defense ministry, he established ties with Azerbaijani special services in Turkey’s territory by using social networks and revealed secret information to them.
He will be tried with multiple counts and may be sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison. --0----
