Armenian customs find amphetamine in package from US, suspect detained

YEREVAN, 16 May. /ARKA/. The Armenian customs officers found 90 pills of amphetamine in a package that was sent from the United States and arrived at the Yerevan Zvartnots Airport, officials reported on Thursday.

The package was sent via Globbing Shipping forwarder company, and later inspected at the capital’s airport. The drug, fully banned in Armenia, was found inside the package alongside edibles and personal items.

A joint operation by the Committee of State Revenues and the National Security Service helped detain the suspect, a dual citizen of Armenia and the US, who was trying to retrieve the package at the Globbing collection point in central Yerevan. The suspect was searched and admitted to the Armenian Investigative Committee, which charged the individual with drug smuggling.
