YEREVAN, November 23. /ARKA/. Armenia and Russia signed an agreement on the establishment and operation of an international bureau for the investigation of aviation accidents and other serious incidents, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the executive body of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), said today.
It said the agreement was signed on November 22 on the sidelines of the Transport Week – 2018 event in Moscow.
It said the heads of the authorized bodies in the field of transport of EEU member states emphasized the role of the Council of the Heads of the authorized bodies in the field of transport - a subsidiary body of the EEU, established on May 14, 2018 to implement transport policy. The first meeting of the Council is scheduled for the first half of 2019.
It said also that over the next two years, three international treaties and more than 35 acts of the EEC are to be prepared and adopted. ‘This will create the basis for fulfilling the instructions of the heads of state to remove existing restrictions by 2025 for all types of transportation within the EEU,’ Emil Kaykiev, EEC Minister for Energy and Infrastructure, said.
He added that out of 58 measures of the “road maps” for the implementation of the EEU transport policy in 2018, eight were executed, and another 49 are underway. -0-
