YEREVAN, May 27. /ARKA/. The Yerevan Municipality has postponed the purchase of new buses and trolleybuses for next year, Mayor Tigran Avinyan said today.
Earlier, the municipality said it planned to acquire 15 new trolleybuses and 171 new buses for the capital's public transportation fleet.
'Financial means have been allocated, and supply agreements have been signed. Yerevan continues to modernize its bus and trolleybus fleet with its financial means. However I have to say, I cannot imagine organizing the purchase of 18-meter buses in a short period," Avinian said.
He proposed to start the purchase of these vehicles starting next year step by step at the expense of the community budget.
Avinian said the task of reforming the transportation system is a priority for Yerevan. "We need 250 18-meter-long buses to complete the transport reforms and we will not deviate from this path despite the difficulties," he said.
