Yerevan Municipality is introducing a system for assessing the quality of school education
YEREVAN, January 26. /ARKA/. A new tool designed to monitor and evaluate the performance of secondary schools has been launched in Yerevan, as announced by Margarit Khachatryan, the Head of the General Education Department of the Municipality.
According to her, this tool has been tested in 11 schools across the capital since the start of the current semester. "It encompasses six key areas: teaching effectiveness, professional development and teacher engagement, quality of management and leadership, educational environment and infrastructure, community engagement and innovation, along with identifying shortcomings and risks.
Each area features its own measurement mechanism, data sources, assessment forms, and a measurement scale ranging from 0 to 5 or 0 to 10," Khachatryan explained during a working meeting at the Municipality on Monday. She mentioned that data is being gathered through two primary methods: reports requested from schools and on-site inspections, which include document analysis, lesson observations, listening sessions, discussions, interviews, and questionnaires.
Khachatryan noted that the tool is fully prepared for implementation. "This year, it will be rolled out in 50 general education institutions in the capital, and by the end of the school year, we aim to include an additional 20-30 schools in the program," she stated.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan also highlighted the significance of this tool's implementation, pointing out that it will facilitate a more precise evaluation of the quality of the educational environment.-0-
