YEREVAN, December 29. /ARKA/. Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced that the project for the new, 11th station of the Yerevan Metro, "Ajapnyak", has passed all necessary assessments and is ready for implementation.
"In particular, one of the assessments lasted over a year. It was a rather complex process, and after certain adjustments, the documents were returned to the designer," Avinyan noted at a press conference on Monday.
According to him, a special government decision will be prepared for this project in 2026, and a management model will be developed according to FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) standards—the most convenient option for implementing such a large-scale project.
"We will engage technical supervision that has relevant experience implementing similar projects," the mayor said.
Construction of the Ajapnyak station was previously scheduled to begin in 2024, but the deadline was later pushed back to late 2025, and later to 2026.
The 2025 city budget allocated 9.6 billion drams for this program, but this amount was later reduced to 1.4 billion drams. The draft budget for 2026 includes an additional 2 billion drams.
Avinyan recently announced that part of the funds allocated for the construction of the Ajapnyak station in 2025 was allocated to purchase 45 new 12-meter trolleybuses.
